I think I’m going to try to hold off on fixing my hair for a couple weeks until break. It’ll be much cheaper getting it cut in America. Walking around with it looking like this isn’t fun, though. I mean, it’s not like I normally think my hair is particularly good, but it’s not bad either. It’s just sort of there. Right now I notice it to the point of avoiding reflective surfaces (and although people at school said it was fine/not noticeably bad, it seems so obviously terrible to me that I’m now sort of worried that the reason it isn’t noticeable is because my hair’s always been uglier than I thought).
22:06pmA hair academy student stopped me on the street and asked me if I wanted a free haircut (because they need hair models for their final exams), so I said yes since I’ve been wanting to cut it anyway. She told me she needed to do a single-length bob, and I assumed that meant non-asymmetrical, but what it really meant was that she chopped my hair to my chin and left the ends completely blunt.
That isn’t a good look, at least not on me. She couldn’t fix/layer/blend it afterward because she had to complete a series of specific hairstyles, so she told me to come in next week to make the ends look like they weren’t hacked off with a paper cutter*. If it were a weekend, maybe I would have done that, but I have to go to school tomorrow. Desperate, I deluded myself into believing that I could cut layers into my own hair with the one pair of heavy-duty kitchen scissors I own.
Have you ever tried cutting the back of your own hair? I imagine it must be hard even for experienced haircutters, but I’m dismal with hair to begin with. I also have only one mirror, so I can’t completely tell what the back looks like. It doesn’t feel like there are any glaring problems with it, but I can see that the front is wildly uneven. I keep trying to get the right side to look decent, but the more I try to fix it the worse it looks. Right now you’d think I cut it by closing my eyes and snipping at random. The left side actually looks okay, but it’s longer than the right side because I keep making the right side shorter by trying to fix it.
I’ve been messing with it for so long that I can’t even tell if it looks better or worse than it did when I started. It’s an utter disaster and I want to stay home from school until I can get it fixed by someone who knows what they’re doing. I’m also going to need to stand so that people can only see my left side.
